There are times when you may feel overwhelmed, unstable and struggling. That means that it is time to ground yourself. But what does grounding mean?
Humans are, by their biology, connected to the earth. Yes YOU are part of the earth. We feed off of the earth, we are sustained 100% by the earth. Just as the Earth is sustained by us and our farming.
The earth is part of your true nature.
The Earth is Part of Your True Nature

Consequently, when you feel lost and adrift, it is time to reconnect to that true nature of YOU. Your essence.
And you do that by grounding yourself.
So here are 3 simple easy and effective ways to ground yourself quickly and stabilize your mind, body & breath.
Or swim in a natural water source.
The simple process of actually physically touching nature is super powerful. Being in the ocean, swimming in a river, walking barefoot on the grass, these are all processes that will neutralise the positive ions in the body which can lead to illness and feeling unstable.
Walk or swim mindfully and with purpose. As you walk, truly FEEL the grass under each step. Allow your feet to breathe in the grass. How does it feel against your skin, notice the temperature and allow your body to absorb those negative ions.
And take your time, do not rush, just connect.
This breath practice (pranayama) reconnects you to the Earth and the Earth to you fast. By exchanging energy you are re establishing that relationship to each other and thereby grounding yourself quickly.
Here is how
Stand tall in mountain pose and feel the whole of your foot connecting to the floor.
Visualise beautiful roots growing from the soles of your feet and into the earth core.
As you inhale pull energy from the earth’s core up through your roots and to your heart space.
As you exhale transfer the energy back through the roots to the earth core.
Continue for 2-3 mins
To end wiggle your toes and gently lift them from the earth, holding on to that beautiful connection. Also connect with your heart space as this will have been charged and now full of love & awareness.
You can join my live class each Thursday where we spend a few minutes grounding through breath at the beginning of the class.
Translated this means ‘We are we, we are one’. We are all connected and chanting this reminds the subconscious. So when feeling unsteady or struggling, reconnect to that sense of togetherness and that you are not alone.
Plus the actual physical act of making the ‘mmmm’ sounds in this mantra grounds you into the chest space. Notice the vibrations in the body that this creates and allow yourself to ‘land’.
This mantra can be used for deep yogic meditative states or for loud and joyous chanting. It’s a mantra for spirit as much as its a mantra for YOU. When you chant it with your whole heart, your whole heart blossoms forth. Give it a try and let your spirit sing!
