Think about it for a moment? Is yoga hard? Is anything hard? yes, everything is when you first start.
But I also want to share that a large part of yoga is lying still, that isn’t so hard is it?
I am guessing that you are here because you have decided to consider a starting yoga or a class. Fantastic! Well done on just making the decision – but now you’ve got to do it.
I am here to enlighten you that No,it is not hard, in fact it can be as simple as you want it to be.
Life is busy and complicated enough, without the extra stress of squeezing in a Yoga practice. In this post I will share ways to simplify your Yoga so that it does not add extra ‘work’ to your life. Also how you can make this easy for YOU.
You do not have to be wearing the ‘right’ clothes. Yoga is about comfort and enjoyment, so if you are not someone who feels happy in a tight pair of leggings, don’t wear them.
I love harem pants, joggers, even a dress and I still manage to move. I teach often wearing whatever I am in and I don’t make excuses.
Be as you are and wear what makes you feel good.
A mat is good to have but not completely essential. If you don’t have one then a carpet or rug will do just fine. You do have to be mindful of slipping as the one thing a yoga mat will give you is some grip.
When starting out, you are going to take it easy so don’t overthink your space. Have room to move, stretch and perhaps some privacy if that will make you feel better.
You can find a plethora of beginners classes on You Tube or online studios etc. If you feel more comfy practicing as home then start here or join a studio. Let the teacher know it is your first time, and if they are a good teacher (which I am sure they will be) they will support you through the class.
