Do you need to simplify your life? Does it feel simple? Or do you feel as though life is living you, rather than you living life?
Life can get very busy and, when busy, it is easy to let things get a little overwhelming. And when overwhelmed, the peace, you have so perfectly created, falls away. Consequently your environment reflects what’s going on inside your mind, or maybe that’s the other way around, your mind very much reflects your outside environment. So being able to simplify your life surely must be a health benefit?
But easier said than done. And, like you, I crave a simple life and yet stuff just tends to fill it up.
So what do we do?
Well here are 5 easy little implementable things to help you simplify your life.
Goals. I HATE goals. But it is great to have a focus or an intention. So I have one goal (intention) a day, that’s it. It may be something as simple as ‘I need to get out of bed’. Do you have days like those?
So, have one goal a day.
You don’t have to have a load of tasks that you need to get done.
Just try and go inside, have a moment connecting to your inner world and just ask yourself ‘what’s the one thing I need to get done today?’ ‘What’s the one thing I’ve got to do?’ And just let it come through to you. Yes let the universe tell you what needs to be done today…. woo woo yes, ….accurate, also yes.
It might not even be something practical. It might be ‘speak to your nan’ or you need to ‘get a laundry load done’; but this one act will make you feel more in control and support you as you simplify your life.
It can be absolutely anything, but listen to it and do it, I promise it will make your day feel so much better.
Yep. Declutter something. Even if you clear out one drawer, it makes you feel good. When was the last time you decluttered and got rid of any old make up? When was the last time you went through that shelf in the fridge that’s got all the pickles, sauces and jams and things on?
Declutter one thing and it will clear out stuff from your mind. A lot of the times, you’ll declutter one thing and it leads on to something else as well. So, declutter.
Now, if straight away, you feel, some kind of restriction to that, or are thinking ‘I don’t have the time’, well, that is up to you. You have that choice.
You can stop and rest. If you are in a job where your breaks are dictated to you, okay. But, I do also know somebody who happily worked in an office, had their breaks dictated to them, however, for 15 minutes, every day, she laid her head down on a desk and it was non negotiable. Her work never suffered. She never lost her job. Because she needed that 15 minutes and then she was still productive.
So, you make that choice. You put yourself first. And when you need to, stop and rest.
Part of my non negotiable formula, my custom formula for every day, is I take 20 minutes. Sometimes longer if I’ve got it. I’ll lay down, put on headphones, and listen to some music or meditation, and I will take that rest.
This short, powerful practice will recharge your batteries, and help you think more clearly, which then simplifies life.
Try it today, and tell me how you feel.
Do you notice, when on your computer, you flit from one site to another and one job to another. If you’ve got a day on your laptop, on your computer, close down your browsing tabs.
When you come off of a tab, just shut it, you don’t need it anymore, shut it down, don’t have all your tabs open at once.
It’s frustrating to look at, it’s, it’s not good for the mind or the brain.
So close down tabs when you don’t need them anymore.
If they are important, you will easily come back to them later via your ‘history’.
And number five, for simplifying your life, be open to receive support. How many of us drop into that martyr syndrome of ‘no I can do it’, ‘no I got it, it’s fine’? I, personally, am terrible for it.
When we open up to receive support, the universe feels your vibration of acceptance and openess and will send more support your way. Support is there for you.
The more you are open to receive, the more it will come your way. It is true.
Nobody is here to be a martyr. Nobody is here to do all the work. So be open to receive support.
Try these pointers this week to simplify your life. Give yourself one goal, declutter something, stop and rest, close down your browsing tabs and be open to receive support.
