Hey Love, lets talk Kundalini Yoga and breathwork, in particular how it can help with menopause, hot flushes and mood swings.
Menopause can feel like a wild ride. Hot flushes, mood swings, sleepless nights—doesn’t it feel as though your body seems to be rewriting its own rules. But there are gentle ways to navigate this new chapter, and one of the most supportive tools comes from the ancient practice of Kundalini Yoga: breathwork.
Using conscious breath, you can soothe hot flushes, regulate emotions, and feel more at home in your changing body. No fancy equipment needed—just your breath and a few quiet moments.
When you’re going through menopause, hormonal changes can trigger intense heat in the body (hello, hot flushes) and sudden emotional shifts. Breathwork, or pranayama, helps regulate the nervous system and supports hormonal balance. You don’t need to be an expert—just consistent, and a little bit curious.
One of the most beloved Kundalini breathing techniques for hot flushes is Sitali Pranayama, known as the “cooling breath.” It literally helps lower body temperature and calm the mind.
How to do it:
This breath is especially lovely during a hot flush, after a heated conversation, or when you feel emotionally overwhelmed.
If you find your moods swinging from joy to tears in minutes, Long Deep Breathing is a powerful practice to ground you.
Here’s how:
This breath calms the nervous system, which is often overstimulated during menopause, and helps bring emotional stability back into focus.
You don’t have to power through menopause. Your breath can be your guide. These small practices—done daily or as needed—create space for softness, clarity, and peace in a time of great transformation.
So next time a hot flush flares or your mood dips, pause. Inhale gently. Exhale slowly. Let the breath carry you back to centre.
You’re not alone. And you’ve got this 💛
